As the port and logistics industry enters a new era of digital transformation, connectivity across systems, data, and ecosystem stakeholders has become essential to delivering more efficient and reliable services. Embracing this shift, Pelindo Solusi Digital continues to strengthen its role in accelerating an integrated, secure, and data-driven maritime ecosystem guided by the principle of “Leverage Business, Think Ecosystem.”
Pelindo Solusi Digital reaffirmed its commitment to advancing port digital transformation through technology development, data integration, and the comprehensive strengthening of the logistics ecosystem. This commitment was conveyed by Natal Iman Ginting, President Director of Pelindo Solusi Digital, during the “Strategy Beyond Hockey Stick: Aligning the Steps of an Ongoing PTP Journey” event organized by Pelindo Terminal Petikemas (PTP).
The event served as a strategic forum for discussing various perspectives on Pelindo Terminal Petikemas’ business journey, ranging from strategic directions and initiatives to developments in the container industry and emerging trends in port digitalization. On this occasion, Natal Iman Ginting delivered a session entitled “Port Digital Trends” under the overarching theme “Leverage Business, Think Ecosystem.”
In his presentation, Natal explained that port digitalization is entering an increasingly strategic phase. The continuous development of systems, applications, and technologies has become an essential foundation that must be reinforced through the integration of processes, data, and services. By adopting an ecosystem-based approach, ports can establish stronger connections with stakeholders throughout the logistics chain, including terminals, container depots, warehouses, trucking companies, shipping lines, and hinterland networks.
According to Natal, the principal value of digital transformation lies not merely in the introduction of new systems, but in the ability of technology to create more integrated and efficient business processes that deliver tangible benefits to service users.
“Digital transformation has become a strategic necessity for the port industry. The challenge is not simply to introduce digital systems, but to ensure that technology, data, and ecosystem participants are connected to create greater value for service users,” said Natal Iman Ginting, President Director of Pelindo Solusi Digital.
Natal emphasized that digital transformation must be implemented continuously by applying the principles of standardize, automate, integrate, and scale. Standardized and automated processes must be further strengthened through integration and subsequently scaled up to support the broader logistics ecosystem.
In this context, Pelindo Solusi Digital plays an important role in supporting Pelindo Group’s digital transformation. The Company serves as a key enabler of digital platforms, products, and system reliability to support the development of an increasingly integrated and data-driven Indonesian maritime ecosystem.
This role is realized through the development of a digital solutions portfolio encompassing Terminal & Marine Operating Solutions, Maritime Platform Services, and Digital Infrastructure Services. These three portfolios represent Pelindo Solusi Digital’s efforts to support port services that are more connected, secure, reliable, and responsive to the needs of service users.
In container terminal operations, Pelindo Solusi Digital supports digitalization through the development and management of core systems such as the Terminal Operating System (TOS) for container terminals, TOS PK, Gatepass System, and other supporting solutions. These systems support terminal activity management, container service processes, operational data integration, and improvements in terminal business-process efficiency.
The implementation of digital solutions at container terminals is aimed at strengthening terminal operations so that they become increasingly standardized, automated, and integrated. Through more interconnected systems, terminal business processes can operate more reliably while providing an essential foundation for delivering end-to-end customer services.
Beyond terminal operating systems, Natal also highlighted the importance of a data platform as a foundation for port digital transformation. Strengthening data governance and integration is a key priority to ensure that operational data can be used more effectively for analytics, decision-making, and the development of advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).
According to Natal, AI can deliver optimal value only when supported by high-quality data, system readiness, and integrated business processes. Digital transformation must therefore progress in alignment with sound data governance, system interoperability, and an increasingly data-driven organizational culture.
During the forum, Natal also stated that throughput remains an important indicator for assessing the scale and capacity of port services. However, the performance of a modern port must also be measured using efficiency and reliability indicators to provide a more comprehensive assessment of service quality.
Indicators such as total vessel time in port, dwell time, truck turnaround time, gate transaction time, container depot readiness, and the effectiveness of operating-system utilization are essential to supporting port services that are increasingly responsive to users’ needs. This approach demonstrates that port performance is shaped not only by activities within the terminal but also by the terminal’s connectivity with the inland logistics chain and the wider supporting ecosystem.
By understanding the end-to-end needs of service users, Pelindo Solusi Digital promotes digital transformation that creates a more efficient, transparent, and value-adding service experience. An ecosystem perspective is essential to ensuring that every process across the logistics chain is interconnected and contributes to the seamless delivery of services.
In line with this direction, Pelindo Solusi Digital continues to advance the development of an integrated maritime services platform that supports the concept of one platform, one data. One of the initiatives currently being developed within this framework is ADHARA, which forms part of the Company’s efforts to strengthen service and information connectivity across Pelindo’s maritime ecosystem.
Digital security is also a critical component of modern port transformation. As systems and services become increasingly interconnected, stronger digital security measures are required to maintain the reliability, security, and continuity of port operations.
Through the “Leverage Business, Think Ecosystem” approach, Pelindo Solusi Digital remains committed to supporting the development of future-ready ports that are increasingly integrated, reliable, secure, and capable of delivering added value to the national logistics industry.
By strengthening the digitalization of terminal operations, data integration, platform development, and the reliability of digital infrastructure, Pelindo Solusi Digital continues to reinforce its role in Pelindo Group’s digital transformation. Its participation in the “Strategy Beyond Hockey Stick” forum provided an important opportunity to strengthen synergy and align the direction of digital transformation with business needs and developments in the port industry, supporting the realization of an Indonesian logistics ecosystem that is more connected, adaptive, efficient, and competitive.
