Jakarta – A total of 30 students from North Jakarta participated in a Port Visit to Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal (IKT) in Kali Baru, Cilincing, North Jakarta, on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. This event was organized by the Pelindo Group, namely PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) Regional 2 Tanjung Priok, PT Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal Tbk (IPCC), PT Integrasi Logistik Cipta Solusi (ILCS), and PT Jasa Peralatan Pelabuhan Indonesia (JPPI), in celebration of National Children's Day.

The port visit was part of a journalism training program conducted by Pelindo in collaboration with North Jakarta Journalists. Pelindo aimed to introduce the role and function of ports through journalism education to high school and vocational school students.

After the journalism training on July 23, the students were invited to a port visit to directly observe the operations at Pier A of the International Terminal, where vehicles for commercial export and import cargo from and to foreign countries are handled.

The students also had the opportunity to see how operational activities are monitored and managed using systems and digitalization in the ITMS (Integrated Terminal Monitoring System) room. From the ITMS control room, staff can observe how new vehicles arrive at the gate, how ships carrying export or import cargo are positioned, and how all operational activities from the gate, central inspection facility, cargo yard & building, to the pier for loading/unloading cargo are monitored.

Executive GM of Pelindo Tanjung Priok, Adi Sugiri, expressed his appreciation for the event. He noted that many people are unaware of the critical role ports play.

"The most important thing is for the students to first get a basic understanding of ports. Because it's not just students, whether they're in elementary, middle, or high school, but even many adults in North Jakarta have never been to or don't know about Pelindo's ports," Adi said on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

"They have a greater interest in learning more about the role and function of ports," he added.

Pelindo also involved its subsidiaries, PT Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal Tbk (IPCC), PT Integrasi Logistik Cipta Solusi (ILCS), and PT Jasa Peralatan Pelabuhan Indonesia (JPPI), to facilitate this educational social program.
